How to use 3D-Tool Software | Exploded view

3D-Tool software is a 2D, 3D drawing and 3D model viewer software that is very helpful for engineering designers. It is a very easy and light tool that can import and export 3D models of various CAD software format. It supports the CATIA, Pro/Engineer, Creo, Inventor, UG/Siemens NX, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, STEP, IGS, VDA, SAT and Parasolid files to CATIA, STEP, IGS, VDA, SAT, SAB, ASAT and STL file formats and can be used to convert from one to another format.

Not only does it convert different 3d model format but also can be used for doing other engineering design related works such as measure distances and dimension of the imported 3D body, get exploded view of the 3D model, change color of some part of the model to check more suitable design colors, check thickness and like works.

One of the interesting and useful function of the engineering drawing viewer is the exploded view.

Once you open the software it looks like this-

Now to open any 3D model, click on the open file icon and then select your .igs file(or any other format you want to convert).

A window will pop up that asks for Import Setting, leave it in default and hitting on the start will open the 3D model as shown below-

With simple right and left mouse click the model can be rotated, moved to get view from different angles-

OK this is what many 3D model viewer software offers, but now see the exploded view feature of 3D-tool software shown below-

With quick 2 clicks this exploded view was generated. This view shows all the inner parts of the model. The holes, the rings, inner planes all are visible in one click. Now if you think what the use of this, think about very complex and complicated 3D models that are out there. This is very useful for serious 3D modelling engineering designs.

Worried about how to reassembly the parts from the explosion? The reassembling of parts is just few clicks- select the model part in the right column and right click and select Combine Selection and your model will be again reassembled.
